PEREX, standing for “Permanence d’Exploitation”, is born of the implementation of a broad program of electronic management of the traffic called WHIST (Walloon Highway Information System for Traffic).
Located at the Daussoulx motorway junction near Namur, PEREX provides traffic monitoring and operates the electronic and telecom road equipment on a 24/7 basis.
As from the mid-1990s, the MET (Ministry for Equipement and Transport) is responsible for the construction and maintenance of road infrastructures. It aimes to develop the road network while improving traffic fluidity and the safety of road users.
PEREX collects and analyzes road data to solve traffic issues.
